How to Use My Home Page...

I enjoy being a physician and chose the field of Internal Medicine for its vast intellectual challenges covering every organ system of the body. My practice philosophy is to treat every patient with the same quality, dignity, and compassion as I expect for my own family and for myself.

Originally from Vietnam , I grew up in Oakland , completed my undergraduate education at UC Davis, and then moved to Iowa City , Iowa for medical school. Searching for a more culturally diverse population of patients, I returned to the Bay Area for my Internal Medicine training at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center. I was impressed by its efficient multidisciplinary system and its emphasis on patient care while having a balance between clinical practice and academics. Furthermore, I enjoyed working with residents and taking care of the sickest of our Internal Medicine patient population. As a result, I joined our hospital medicine department in 2008.

My hobbies include hiking, jogging, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am married to a physiatrist who specializes in Spinal Cord Injury and have an infant who keeps me busy while I am away from the hospital.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
