About Me

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and have been a Nurse Practitioner with Kaiser Permanente since 2001. After graduating from St Lukes School of Nursing in San Francisco in 1982, I became certified in critical care and remained there for four years in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I then had a unique opportunity to work abroad for United Nations/Save the Children as a nurse in the Vietnamese refugee camps of Hong Kong. I ran a health care program for thousands of Vietnamese children from 0-5 years of age. Over the next 10 years I traveled the world and worked in Saudi Arabia and Sydney, Australia. Upon my return to the USA in 1996, I began working for Contra Costa County Public Health Clinic Services, as well as pursuing my Masters in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner degree.

My diverse background has given me an opportunity to experience many aspects of medical care and appreciate Kaiser Permanente as a great place to provide health care. In Occupational Health I work closely with my colleagues and consult with other departments to provide the best health care services to our patients. Our team of specialists includes: physical therapists, industrial psychologists, physicians and nurse practitioners. We also offer alternative medicine specialist such as chiropractic care and acupuncture.

I strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle and love running, hiking and horseback riding. When I’m not working, I love traveling, gourmet cooking and keeping up with my two daughters.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
