About Me

I completed medical school at Stanford University, and anesthesia residency at UCSF. Following residency, I joined the faculty at UCSF/San Francisco General Hospital, and later was in private practice in the South Bay. I came to work at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City in 2001. I am certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and belong to the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the California Society of Anesthesiologists.

Surgery is often a stressful time. I enjoy helping my patients have a positive perioperative experience by minimizing pain and anxiety. I chose anesthesia because I like working with my hands, and like the immediate feedback and sense of completion I get at the end of each day.

The collaborative anesthesia practice at Kaiser Permanente is one of its strong points. Department members work together as a team, and we usually have extra hands available if any individual need assistance. This provides a safer environment for patients, and a more pleasant and less stressful place to work.

I have lived in California since 1981 and take advantage of the state's varied outdoor opportunities. During my free time, I enjoy backcountry skiing, hiking, backpacking, and sea kayaking.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
