This home page was created for the benefit of our members. It provides a brief biography of Dr. Bui and some internet links pertaining to patient education on anesthesia which can be selected from the Navigation Bar.

I was born in Saigon, Vietnam and immigrated to this country almost 30 years ago. I attended San Francisco State University for my undergraduate studies. I went on to receive my medical degree from Indiana University, School of Medicine. I completed my internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis and my residency in Anesthesiology at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. I am a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology.

I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1997. In 2000, I left the group for an opportunity in private practice. However, I rejoined the group in 2002 after realized that the Permanente Medical Group provides me more of what I need in my professional as well as my personal life. I enjoy the camaraderie and supports I receive from my colleagues in the Anesthesiology Department as well as other departments. In my practice of anesthesiology, my uttermost concern is my patients' safety and well being. I believe that being part of the Permanente Medical Group frees me from all other concerns.

Outside of my medical practice, I enjoy playing my violin and piano. I am a member of a local chamber orchestra in the South Bay area. My family and I also enjoy traveling to different parts of the world.

My Credentials

Medical school Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN
Internship St. Vincent Hospital and Health Care Center, Indianapolis, IN
Residency Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine, Portland, OR

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
