About Me

I find every aspect of Radiology interesting and feel fortunate to be in the field. As Radiologists, we are in the enviable position of being able to unlock the body’s secrets through the use of modern imaging techniques. We are also privileged to work with other Physicians as a team, combining our expertise in order to make a more accurate assessment of the patient.

My field is general Radiology including all aspects of imaging. As a female Physician, I also have a special interest in Mammography and women’s health issues, and am please to be available to those patients who request a female Radiologist.

In my interactions with patients, I always try to explain myself clearly, and to answer questions in a way which is comprehensible and hopefully reassuring. I believe misunderstandings and fears can be lessened by good communication. This is especially important for us since our interaction with patients usually includes performing some type of radiological exam.

I believe empathy is an essential ingredient for a physician-it’s the golden rule.

One philosophy which I extend to medicine is to intervene as little as possible with nature - the body’s own powers of recuperation are great and we should not be tempted to over treat.

I believe medical ethics and end of life issues present formidable challenges to medicine which will only increase in the future and which will involve us all.

I am the mother of three grown children who continue to enrich and enliven my life. I enjoy music of all types, and have especially enjoyed our San Jose Opera Company. I am fascinated by words and the study of languages. I have been to school in Mexico many times and am currently studying Modern Greek, which is great fun since much of medical terminology has its origins in this language. I’m an avid hiker and swimmer and enjoy traveling and experiencing new places, cultures, and people.
