Welcome to my webpage, where you can access information about me, the department of psychiatry, as well as helpful mental health resources. Let me draw particular attention to the Mental Health Information and Web Sites link found on the left hand side of this page. Here, you can find information to help with many mental health problems including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and insomnia. This site offers information to help you evaluate when you should seek professional help, how you might prevent problems in the future, and makes suggestions about what you can do on your own. I hope you find it helpful.
A bit about me: My family is originally from the Bay Area, although I moved frequently as a child. I completed my undergraduate work in psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and obtained a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Kent State University it Ohio. I choose psychology because of my curiosity about human behavior and because I wanted a career which would benefit others. I came back to the Bay Area for my advanced training, which I completed at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Here, I worked primarily with veterans traumatized by their wartime service and those struggling with substance abuse problems. At Kaiser Permanente, I work with adults with wide-ranging problems, especially depression, anxiety, and trauma. My treatment philosophy is to be accepting and non-judgmental, while offering specific recommendations to encourage positive behavior change.
I began working at Kaiser Permanente in 2002. I enjoy working with other professionals who truly share my commitment and enthusiasm for caring for patients. It feels good to work in a team environment, where I collaborate with other professionals with unique areas of specialty and expertise. This is important, since we often work together to create treatment plans that address multiple needs including individual counseling, group therapy, and medications.
The best way to make an appointment in our clinic is to contact our main number (650-299-4777). A team of triage therapists will call you back to get some basic information about why you are calling and what might be helpful for you. If you are calling after hours, you will be connected to our Psychiatric After Hours Call Center.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
