Welcome to my Home Page!

Through this home page, you will be able to link on useful medical topics, access your personal physician, obtain medication refills, find out about seasonal health issues and learn more about my practice.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002 as a hospitalist, meaning that I manage hospitalized patients and admit them from the emergency room. My office hours during my rounding weeks are 7am-4pm and during my call weeks, they vary. The best way to contact me is through the hospital operator, 688-2000 or through our department coordinators, Denise McCulley or Anna Gong at 688-6365.

Educational Background

I have lived in California for the last 30 years and attended high school in Fresno and Livermore. My undergraduate training was at UC Davis with a major in Physiology. After this, I did my medical training in the West Indies and England. This time was invaluable in teaching me clinical medicine with a great deal of hands-on training. I completed my medical residency at a UCD-affiliated hospital program in the Stockton area. It was only natural for me to remain in this area where my family is located.

Practice Philosophy

As a hospitalist, we manage acute medical conditions and co-manage surgical/ orthopedics patients peri-operatively. My special interest involves palliative care medicine which is managing patients who have progressive chronic medical conditions with the goal of alleviating suffering and improving quality of life. This approach involves multiple people including nursing staff, social worker, and chaplain if desired. If a patient has been enrolled into this program by their physician, our nursing staff will maintain contact after discharge from the hospital.

Being in the hospital can be a very scary with an overwhelming feeling of not knowing what is going on. During my rounds, I try to take as much time as neccesary to explain the current medical issues and where we go from that point. I find that giving patients this information provides a sense of relief in knowing what to expect and understanding the goals of treatment.

Personal Interests

Outside of the hospital, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my two small children and my husband. We enjoy going to the local parks, book stores and packing up for trips to the coast.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
