Welcome to my home page. I hope that through this medium I will be able to better serve you with the most current information.

About Me:

I was born and raised in China. During my childhood, I spent a lot of time in my aunt’s medical office. I learned through her that being a medical doctor, I can offer a lot to the community, especially when the patients and their family are going through major illness. Since then, I decided to be a doctor. I went to medical school in 1978. After I graduated from medical school, I practiced in Beijing Medical University Hospital for a few years.

In 1987, I came to the United States to further my medical training. I spent eight years in microbiology and molecular biology in Boston University Medical School, Boston, MA and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA.

My internal medicine training was in Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. Then I worked for two years in a private practice as a hospital specialist in upstate New York. Because of the high quality care and community commitment Kaiser Permanente is providing, I decided to join The Permanente Medical Group in September 2003. I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding department and the medical group here at Kaiser Permanente Central Valley. I hope that we can always provide the highest possible quality of care and service to you.

As a Hospitalist, most patients I see are in acute condition, some are critical. I understand that the patient and their family are under stress and might have to face significant life style changes during that time. I am not only treating my patient medically, but also providing spiritual and social support to the patient and their family as much as possible by myself together with my medical team. I believed that patient’s and their family’s participation is very important. Discussing the diagnosis and treatment plan with patient and their family is on the top of my agenda in my every day practice.

My medical interest is critical care and acute illness. Besides medicine, I enjoy music, tennis and sight seeing. I am fluent in English and I am also fluent in Mandarin, Chinese.

I wish you all in good health. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
