About Me

I have had the privilege of practicing at Kaiser Permanente since November 2002.

From an early age I have always wanted to be a doctor. My profession allows me the ability to use past and present learning combined with a caring for others to invest in my patients lives. I have the dual gain of being helpful and encouraging both in times of illness and wellness. Practicing with Kaiser Permanente has allowed an outstanding environment for this pursuit as has my participation with HBS and a gifted group of physicians of all specialties.

In addition to seeing patients for the department of Hospital Medicine, I also serve as the Director of 3 North, with the Adult Medicine Executive Committee, as part of our Interventional Services Committee, as a part of our Core measures committee, and on our HAIPO (Hospital Acquired Infections) and HEROES committees. Other focuses include the advancement of Dementia care, Aspiration Pneumonia prevention, and continuing to improve our transitions from hospital to outpatient care. Additionally I am a long standing member of the Ethics Committee.

My approach is to positively and informatively deliver appropriate healthcare and to help the patient, their loved ones, and myself enjoy our time together, as we build friendships. Additionally, I endeavor to make the hospital a place where each person, independent of their position, is well received and encouraged so that they may in turn do so for the next person.

My personal interests include raising my 3 young children, reading, chess, playing with my dogs (Lucy and Daisy), the honey-do list, and traveling around the world. I have been to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Galapagos Chile, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Egypt, Israel, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Nepal, Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Alaska, and about twenty of the continental United States. The future holds Greece, China, Australia, New Zealand, and I have a dream to see the (near) top and bottom of the world. I speak Spanish (not fluently) and my favorite vacation place is Thailand.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
