My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a Physician assistant in general surgery. This means that I assist the surgeons in all aspect of our practice. You may meet me in clinic at a pre-operative visit, in which case I will do a history and physical, answer your questions and review post operative instructions with you. We may meet in the operating room where I often assist surgeons on various cases. I also see patients after they have had surgery, ensuring that they are healing well and again answering any questions that have come up.

I decided to work in general surgery because I like the variety of being able to work in the clinic, the hospital and the operating room.

My Practice Philosophy

Working in General Surgery, patient education is a big focus of mine. Surgery can be a new and frightening experience for many people. By discussing the process and post op expectations, I hope to put them at ease.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been part of Kaiser Permanente since 2003. Since that time I have come to appreciate working for an organization that really puts an emphasis on the quality of care that is provided to our members.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

Working at Kaiser Permanente has given me the opportunity to work for a top notch organization that feels like a family. Even though our General Surgery group is large, everyone is treated with respect and kindness. My colleagues are always willing to help out when the need arises.

On a Personal Note…

Moving to California from Pennsylvania was a big adjustment. I am happy to say that both my daughter and I have made a smooth transition and have easily adjusted to the fabulous weather, nice people and ample outdoor activities the area has to offer.

My Medical Education and Training

As a physician assistant, I obtained my Bachelor's degree and my PA training simultaneously back in Pennsylvania. After my schooling I did a post-graduate internship in Surgery to further my knowledge base and experience. I finished my internship in 1991 and have been working in general Surgery ever since.
