About Me

Originally, I wanted to be an English teacher. Then life happened. After earning my bachelor’s degree in nursing, I worked primarily in the Emergency Department setting for about 10 years. While I thoroughly enjoyed this specialty, I wanted to go back to school and get my master's degree in nursing. Consequently I moved to Southern California and completed my master's degree and residency in anesthesia.

I have been working for Kaiser Permanente as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) since 1994. The first twelve of those years was in Southern California. A couple of years ago, I had an opportunity to return to my roots (I was born at Alta Bates and raised in Orinda and Piedmont). I chose to transfer to the Walnut Creek hospital because of the excellent services and care that it offers its patients and families.

My practice as a CRNA is challenging and varied. I provide anesthesia for all age groups for a variety of reasons, ranging from tonsillectomies to fractured hips. I also provide epidural anesthesia for our laboring patients. My practice philosophy is simple: I strive to treat my patients and their families the way I would like to be treated, with dignity, respect, and empathy. During their surgery, my patients can expect to receive vigilant care.

Because Kaiser Permanente believes in taking care of its employees as well as its patients, I have a schedule that allows me to have a balanced life. My partner and I enjoy hiking the hills of Briones Park near our home with our dogs, Miles and Frida. I am a competitive tennis player and enjoy reading, biking and traveling.

My Education and Credentials

Undergraduate Education BS in Nursing, San Francisco State University
Graduate Education MS in Anesthesia Nursing, California State University, Long Beach
Certification California Association of Nurse Anesthetists

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
