Welcome to my home page! Below is a little information about me, my education, and experience. Please feel free to explore the links provided on the left side of this page. They are designed to inform you of the chemical dependency services available at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, as well as within our community. I have also included links to other sites with information which you might find helpful.

I am a California native, originally from Southern California. I attended UC Berkeley where I received my B.A. degree in psychology. I obtained a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in Berkeley. Before joining Kaiser Permanente in 1990, I worked with Vietnam veterans who had a variety of problems, including posttraumatic stress disorder and substance abuse. It was there that I developed my interest in treating people who are attempting to recover from drug and alcohol dependence.

I enjoy working with people with chemical dependency problems because I often see them make dramatic improvements in their lives within a relatively short period of time. My treatment approach involves emphasizing people’s strengths and supporting their interests in improving their lives, while personalizing treatment goals according to each unique life situation. I especially like working at Kaiser because I am part of a great team of talented and dedicated providers.

My additional professional activities include serving on Kaiser Permanente committees at this facility and at the regional level, which promote improved services and quality of care for members.

My personal interests include hiking, movies and pets.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
