I grew up in a small town in North Carolina, completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, and returned to North Carolina for medical school at Wake Forest University. My husband is a native Californian, and we moved to San Francisco for my residency training at UCSF. Now I feel like the Bay Area is my real home.
I found radiation oncology in my third year of medical school, and I decided to become a radiation oncologist for two reasons. First, in this field we really have time to get to know our patients; and second, I wanted to have the chance to cure a medical problem, not just control it. There's no greater challenge in medicine than curing cancer. After two and a half years in academic practice, I joined the team at Kaiser. I chose Kaiser because the system is designed to allow me to focus on the thing I love most about medicine, patient care.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
