About My Background

I came to Kaiser Oakland in 1997 after twelve years in private practice; by comparison, it is much more enjoyable and rewarding. I was raised in Oakland and grew up receiving my medical care at this very hospital. I am proud to be here now providing care to patients who come from near and far to receive their care here. Oftentimes, I care for people I know here in the community, my church, or folks I grew up with. How satisfying it is to lend a personal touch to someone in need of treatment, or to simply help them maneuver through the system!

I received medical training at Los Angeles County Medical Center a while back. After twelve years in private practice, finding a husband and giving birth to 2 wonderful children, I can say I feel blessed to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente organization, as this allows sanity in my life outside of the hospital.

About My Work

At Kaiser Oakland there is opportunity to care for a wide variety of patients. The bold contrast of caring for the very young (days old!) to someone in their golden years adds to the excitement of coming to work everyday. I enjoy performing obstetrical, neurosurgical, pediatric and orthopedic anesthesia, just to name a few. Taking away someone’s pain is the most gratifying part of my job. Working in an environment where the professionals support each other to take the best care of each patient is also very rewarding. The organization as a whole is supportive to the physicians’ practice, with cutting edge technology and equipment. Providing the highest quality of care is an achievement I am proud to say I am part of in my medical facility.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
