Welcome to My Home Page

As your physician, I value my relationship with you and I know that maintaining a good relationship means being able to communicate with each other. My colleagues and I have developed My Doctor Online so that we can stay in touch more easily. Because the better connected we are, the healthier you are.

My Background

I was born and raised in Hawaii. Due to the diverse makeup of Hawaii’s population I have come to appreciate many different cultures and their unique ways. I received my Bachelors degree in biology and Masters degree in pharmacology at the University of Hawaii. I then attended the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii where I received my M.D. degree. I went on to complete my pediatric residency at the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. I then traveled to the Bay Area where I completed my pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Stanford Medical Center. Following completion of my fellowship, I returned to Hawaii where I opened a successful private practice in pediatric cardiology. After 4½ year in private practice I decided to join Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii where I practiced for 10 years prior to joining the pediatric cardiology group in Kaiser Permanente – Northern California. Many people ask why I would move from a beautiful place like Hawaii. There are many reasons but the foremost in my mind are to move closer to family and to experience something new while I still have the opportunity to do so.

Roles & Responsibilities

My primary role is to ensure our families are provided the best pediatric cardiology care we are capable of. I feel it is vital to develop comfortable lines of communication with each and every family. If there are any questions you have or things you don’t understand, please ask. It is important that all decisions made for your child are formulated as a team and you feel comfortable with every decision along the way.

On a Personal Note. . .

I have been happily married for 22 years (and counting), have one beautiful daughter, and the world’s cutest dog. During our free time we enjoy spending time with family and friends and seeking out new adventures.

Some of my favorite things to do during my free time are watching foreign cinema, reading, staying physically active, listening to music of all genres, being out in nature, and watching sunsets. In the future I hope to learn how to play a musical instrument.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
