About Me

I am a pathologist. As a pathologist I do not get to meet you as I spend my time looking through a microscope at the tissues and cells removed from patients, making diagnoses and in cancer cases classifying and evaluating the extent of the disease. I then interact with your clinician and provide them the necessary information they need to treat your condition.

I chose pathology as a specialty because I am interested in the basic pathophysiology of the disease process and pathology helps me to understand the function and response of the cell and tissue in disease.

I received my medical degree (M.B.B.S.) from the University of Calcutta, India. I subsequently did my residency in pathology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India and obtained my M.D. in pathology. After coming to the U.S. I completed my residency at the West LA VA Medical Center. I am board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and in cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology. I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 2002.

Before joining Kaiser Permanente I was a staff pathologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for over five years. I then worked as a staff pathologist at the West LA VA Medical Center for a year before joining the Permanente Medical Group.

In pathology my areas of interest include gynecologic pathology, breast pathology and cytopathology.

I am a member of the College of American Pathologists.

Besides English, I also speak Tamil, Hindi and Bengali.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
