My Biography

I work as an intensivist which means most of my days are spent in an ICU taking care of the sickest patients. Most people's responses to that are "that must be intense" and most people are uncomfortable with severe illness. It's uncomfortable for everyone involved, patients, families and physicians. The reality is, though, that most of us who care for the critically ill have personal experience with loved ones who have spent time in an ICU. It's a challenge. I believe that timely, appropriate medical care makes a difference for most people. And I believe that a facility like Kaiser Permanente where care is well coordinated with multiple disciplines involved in taking care of patients is best for patient care. That is why I chose to move to the Bay Area to practice at Kaiser Permanente.

On my days off, I enjoy traveling, playing with my family, cooking and swimming. All this helps keep me refreshed and ready to take on whatever challenges the day brings on.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
