Dept. of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry & Chemical Dependency Services

Welcome to my home page and the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City! My office hours and departmental phone numbers are listed above, along with other useful links on the left-hand side of my page.

My interest in and passion for psychology developed as a young adult. I found myself fascinated by the interaction between our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and physical health. Furthermore, I couldn’t imagine a more meaningful career than one that would allow me to provide support and guidance to others during a difficult time in their lives. Therefore, I pursued both undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara in 2003 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, and I transferred to Redwood City in 2004 after completing my fellowship. My current work at Kaiser Redwood City focuses on teens and their families facing substance abuse issues, and I co-coordinate the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program. I find working with teens to be particularly rewarding. Indeed, I am continually touched by their fresh perspective and challenged to help them and their families find their own paths to recovery.

On a more personal note, I was born and raised in the Midwest and then moved to Florida for my graduate training. I then moved to California for my internship and practice. My hobbies and interests include skiing, traveling, music, and hiking. If you are planning to meet with me for an evaluation for your teen, please arrange for me to have relevant information. This might include contact information for a probation officer or school counselor. Furthermore, to expedite the intake process, you may print the intake forms from the link on the left side of this page and bring the completed forms to your first appointment.

My credentials:

Undergraduate: B.S., Psychology, Wichita State University

Graduate School: M.S. & Psy.D., Clinical Psychology, Nova Southeastern University

Internship: University of California, Santa Barbara

Fellowship: Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
