About Me

I developed a love for the study of anatomy and physiology in high school and engaged in pre-medical studies at UC Davis. Upon graduating with a bachelor's degree I decided to pursue a career in medical research and was employed for several years as a protein chemist at a medical diagnostics company in San Jose, CA. It was there I met my husband. We shared an interest in other cultures and travel and spent the first two years of our marriage traveling by train, bus, bicycle and on foot throughout the United States, Canada, and Asia, including several months trekking in Nepal, nearly a year traveling throughout China, and a 7140 mile bicylce trip across the US and Canada.

We settled in Berkeley, CA where we are raising our son who was born in 1998. My return to medicine began in the Emergency Medical Response profession and I spent two years as an Emergency Department Technician before entering the Masters Physician Assistant Program at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland. My interest in orthopedics stems from a life of being very active in sports including: hiking, rockclimbing, track and field, cross country running and soccer.

I very much enjoy working in the Orthopedics Department at Kaiser Permanente - Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, and Antioch. I hope you have enjoyed my brief introduction, and I look forward to meeting you and developing a team approach to address your orthopedic problem.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
