My Biography

I grew up in Sacramento, but I love the range of diversity in people, cultural events, and cuisine in San Francisco. And unlike some people, I really do like the fog!

I was a Kaiser Permanente member throughout my childhood, and I came to San Francisco Medical Center because the comprehensive system makes sense to me. With Kaiser’s health care model, I can focus on finding the most optimal way to meet members’ needs. I enjoy helping members understand and learn to cope with a genetic disorder in their families.

The San Francisco Genetics department has a strong focus on quality of care, and I appreciate that my colleagues are supportive of one another and of our patients. I enjoy the challenge of working in a rapidly changing field like genetics. I have a variety of special interest areas, including cancer genetics, connective tissue disorders, and hemoglobinopathies (sickle cell disease and thalassemia). I attend the annual Education Conference of the National Association of Genetic Counselors, as well as the American College of Medical Genetics conferences.

Away from the office, I take French classes and enjoy knitting, hiking, and reading fiction. I keep healthy through exercise, drinking plenty of water, and trying to improve my eating habits. I am married and have one child and two cats.
