Welcome to my Home Page!

I have been a psychaitric social worker at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City since 2000. As the outpatient case manager for the Child and Family Team in the Department of Psychiatry, I have many diverse roles. My main function, and the area I enjoy the most, is providing outreach and linkage to the community for the children and families that we serve. I interface with schools, probation, other mental health settings and pediatircs to provide support for the patients and education to the community. I also see patients for outpatient therapy and on Mondays I work in pediatrics. On Monday mornings I co-facilitate the ADHD Screening Group and in the afternoon I am the Behavioral Health liaison for the Department of Pediatrics.

My previous career as a special education teacher has provided invaluable experiences that support my current roles as a case manager. I understand firsthand how the education system operates and how to navigate through the IEP (Individual Education Plan) process for students with special learning or emotional needs. I support a collaborative apporach with community systems and work to enhance each patient's ability to adovcate for themselves whenever possible. I see myself not only serving the patients, but the therapists and psychiatrists on our team as well.

I enjoy my work at Kaiser Permanente because of the focus on teamwork. . My colleagues are intelligent, and thoughtful professionals. Each person on our team brings a strong sense of decidation to their work. There is great collaboartion with and support for one another, which translates into better patient care. My area of interest is working with children and transitional youth (18-22) with a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum.

I am also fluent in Signing Exact English (SEE) sign language. I have basic Spanish language skills.

I am a native Northern Califronian. I grew up in San Mateo and have lived in the Bay Area for most of my life. Just a brief stop in Chicago for graduate school at the University of Chicago took me out of the area. I focus much of my freetime on spending it with family and close friends. I enjoy physical activities and fit those in whenever I can.

Perhaps our paths will cross here at Kaiser Permanente one day!

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
