Welcome to my home page!

My name is TK O’Brien and I am a gastroenterologist. As such my colleagues and I in the department treat disease and maladies peculiar to the gastrointestinal system. I’ve been practicing medicine with Kaiser Permanente in San Rafael since the summer of 2002. I’m proud to be associated with such a dedicated medical group and department.

I’m confident that I along with our collection of physicians, Jeff Fox, James Martin, Robert Myers, and Rupa Shah can and will provide the best care available in the area.

I’m originally from back east and consider myself a “Recovered New Yorker!” Prior to medical school I majored in Pre-Med at the College of the Holly Cross in Worcester, Mass. When I’m not here at the clinic or hospital I try to get away on fishing vacations.

Thanks for visiting my home page and I look forward to our next appointment.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
