Welcome to my home page!

As an oncologist I treat and care for people dealing with cancer. Given the nature of my specialty I find it important to care for patients with unyielding compassion and understanding. Central to this theme is my insistence to not only treat the specific disease but to also concentrate on the individual as a whole. My patients often experience enormous stress and uncertainty and as a physician it is important to me that they can depend on an ally during these difficult and trying times.

I’ve been a Kaiser physician since the summer of 1997 and have always practiced in San Rafael. Kaiser’s system of integrated care was a major component that attracted me to this organization. My colleagues and I do a great job of communicating and sharing our diverse expertise for the betterment of our patients and community. The system allows us to refer patients to a specialist within our facility and region without the red tape commonly associated with private practice and outside insurance. Given the complexities of an already stressful time in dealing with illness, this allows our membership to navigate a course that would otherwise be somewhat cumbersome. That, coupled with the fact that we have a great collection of doctors and staff, makes me proud to be here.

I grew up in Marin and prior to medical school I attended UC Berkeley. During my free time I enjoy everything the area has to offer, especially outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. I also love to travel when opportunities present themselves.

Thank you for visiting me on the web. I hope you benefit from the wealth of educational tools and information we are able to provide. Kaiser does a great job in promoting health as a means to avoid sickness and enhance vitality. Please take advantage of our immense web-based resources.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
