Welcome to my Home Page!

It is my hope that this website will allow you to familiarize yourself with the services we provide, ways to access helpful links and resources, and some information about my background.

The following is a brief synopsis about how I came to work with the staff here at Kaiser Permanente:

Upon completing my postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente’s Department of Psychiatry in San Rafael in 2007, I was gratefully offered a full-time position to continue providing therapeutic services to the patients we proudly serve. I was fortunate enough to maintain my subspecialty in treating eating disorders, while primarily working with adult patients who present with other psychological concerns, such as depression, anxiety, grief, interpersonal distress, and so forth.

I was born and raised in New Jersey and moved to the Bay Area in 2001 to further my psychological education. I am fortunate to be surrounded by the beautiful weather, nature, and spectacular hiking and mountain biking trails that the Bay Area has to offer. I love a good meal, a captivating book, a cuddly dog to hang out with, and most of all, spending time with my beloved family and friends.

My Approach to Therapy: I take an integrative approach to my work with clients. I often utilize various principles and strategies that are associated with cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, humanistic therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. I match my approach to each individual I meet with. I strive to provide therapy in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner, while assisting each client to make preferred and effective change. I am always interested in how the therapeutic process is going for my clients; therefore, I eagerly welcome feedback to ensure that we are on the right track and, if not, how we can get there together.

Our Team: Kaiser San Rafael’s Department of Psychiatry consists of a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychiatric advice nurses, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and marriage and family therapists. I am proud to work with a dedicated and compassionate team of mental health professionals who strive to provide friendly and evidence-based treatment to our patients. I am honored to have the opportunity to assist patients with the myriad of resources and integrative care that Kaiser has to offer.

Our Services: We treat an extensive range of psychiatric concerns by providing therapy in individual, family, and group settings. Medication evaluation and management are also available when appropriate. Three main services are provided at Kaiser San Rafael’s Department of Psychiatry: Child and Family Services, Adult Services, and Chemical Dependency Services. Please view the helpful links on the left to better acquaint yourself with some additional resources.

Group Therapy: We make extensive use of group therapy that is modeled on research in best practices and optimal efficacy. In my experience, many clients are initially uneasy about participating in group therapy. They question whether they will be able to relate to others, feel comfortable enough in a group setting to share, and be able to effectively benefit from the group. However, most clients who give group therapy a chance with an open-minded perspective find that they gradually ease into the group dynamic, and experience a sense of validation and understanding from others, less isolation and confusion, and a clearer grasp on how to effectively address their struggles and improve their quality of life. Clients also appreciate participating in group therapy because it is typically offered on a weekly basis, thereby providing intensive and frequent support. I’d be happy to discuss the specific groups we offer and whether they would be applicable for your particular concerns during our visit.

In Addition to Group Therapy: We provide indiviual and family therapy. To schedule your first appointment with a therapist please call (415)444-3522.

Eating Disorder Program: Our Eating Disorder Outpatient Program provides comprehensive treatment for adults and adolescents. We provide integrated care by a multidisciplinary staff of eating disorder specialists in order to provide the most effective treatment. Our program includes group, individual and family psychotherapy, medical monitoring, nutrition consultation, and psychiatric medication evaluation and management when appropriate.

I take a holistic approach to my work with eating disorder recovery, taking into account the medical, psychological, and social factors that play a role in the development and treatment of this illness. I thoroughly enjoy treating eating-disordered concerns with the individuals and families who courageously seek support to address them, and I strive to empower my patients and help them reclaim the things in life that are most important to them. Please see KP San Rafael's Outpatient Eating Disorder Program Brochure for further details about our groups and services.

Thanks for visiting me on the web and I look forward to our work together!
