About Me

Why I Became a Physician

My interest in medicine stems from my exposure and direct experiences with patient care through hospital volunteering while in high school. This ultimately prompted interest in learning about physiology and mechanisms of disease in college. I've since been privileged with the opportunity to impact patients' lives through my practice at Kaiser Permanente. I will continue to strive to deliver quality health care to all my patients, and assist them through the process of achieving their health goals.

Why I Chose My Specialty and What I Like About Kaiser Permanente

I joined the Hospital Based Specialists (HBS) Department at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo in July 2005. It is a pleasure and privilege to be a member of this hospitalist group, which is composed of excellent physicians. As a hospital based physician, I am always accessible to my panel of patients and their family members throughout the day. Additionally, we have resources and consultative services available at all times to facilitate efficient and effective care of our hospitalized patients. I chose to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente team because of the health organization's reputation for promoting wellness and providing excellent health care to its members. Also, our computerized information systems allow for expeditious retrieval of patient information within all Kaiser Permanente hospitals.

My Philosophy on Healing

My philosophy on healing is simple. My goal is to help patients realize that they can achieve and maintain a lifestyle which incorporates a healthy balance of exercise, diet, and stress management. But, as a practitioner, I believe it's imperative to be cognizant of our patients' diversity, adopted beliefs, and attitudes towards their wellness. With that knowledge, I can more effectively assist my patients in the process of achieving their personal health goals. My philosophy also incorporates patient trust and empowerment as fundamentals. Once established, this will allow physicians to encourage and effect change in their patients' existing health attitudes and beliefs. Hopefully, the final result will be a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle.

My Personal Interests

My life has recently exploded with more laughter and love, with the birth of my second child. Obviously, there is little time left to delve into personal interests, which include dabbling in gourmet cooking, learning and applying the art of Feng Shui to my family's life, and mountain biking and exercising with my husband. As my children are the focal point in my life, I enjoy preparing meals for my little gourmands and spending time reading, painting, photographing, and exploring the outdoors with my two little buddies.
