Welcome!

Hi, my name is Kaye Fichman. I have been a physician with Kaiser Permanente Medical Group since 1985. I am a pediatric endocrinologist, a sub-specialist trained to treat children with disorders of the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and ovary. I Evaluate children with abnormalities of growth and pubertal development. I see patients in San Rafael, Vallejo, Fairfield, and Santa Rosa. For Santa Rosa patients here is the link to the Santa Rosa Pediatrics Department.

A large part of my practice, about 350 patients, is caring for children with diabetes and their families. My team of specialized nurses and dieticians are committed to intensive diabetes management using the latest technologies to optimize health outcomes. We also offer behavioral counseling.

One of the things I like best about being a physician in Kaiser Permanente is I can prescribe the treatment I think is best for my patient without worrying if my patient can afford it. Also, I can confer with a broad range of other specialists with just a phone call or email.

Our information technology is moving toward health plan members being able to communicate with their doctor via secure e-mail and I can keep current with patient's tests results from home, since I am connected to the medical center computer.

Although I am on the road a lot, I take a cup of Peet's coffee, some jazz CDs get in my Prius and go... Some of my interests are reading, foreign films, travel good food, buttery Chardonnay, archaeology, and mental health advocacy.

I hope you will find the endocrine information links on my web Page helpful. Below is a summary of my educational background:

Internship Children's Hospital, Philadelphia, PA
Residency Children's Hospital, Philadelphia, PA
Fellowship Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD
Board certification Pediatrics, American Board of Pediatrics

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
