Thank you for visiting my home page. I am one of 16 Nurse Anesthetists who provide anesthesia for patients at the Hayward and Fremont Kaisers. As a Nurse Anesthetist I work in the main operating rooms in Hayward and Fremont. In Hayward Kaiser I also provide anesthesia services for laboring moms in the Labor and Delivery department (i.e. epidurals).

There is immense satisfaction derived from providing anesthesia because there is always something to improve or learn. My greatest satisfaction in anesthesia is when my patient is comfortable. Kaiser provides my practice with the technology, medicine and equipment to perform safe, and always improving anesthetic techniques.

I believe an anesthesia provider has two main responsibilities: to keep you safe and to keep you comfortable during your experience in the operating room or labor & delivery suite. I realize that I have a great responsibility while you are in my care and feel confident in my ability, and the ability of the rest of the Kaiser team, to provide you with safety and comfort.

On a personal note: I am originally from a small farm community in eastern Tennessee. My wife (a native Californian) and I now live in the east bay with our three children. My family is my biggest “hobby” and where I find my greatest comfort and enjoyment. I also enjoy golf and an occasional game of dodge ball with my friends. (My wife says I will grow up some day).

I realize being in the hospital can be a frightening experience even for the simplest procedure. I hope I and the rest of the Kaiser team will provide you with a positive experience during your time with us.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
