My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a staff physical therapist. I specialize in out-patient musculoskeletal dysfunction and rehabilitation with a strong emphasis on manual therapy. My scope of practice includes treatment of spinal pain, orthopedic injuries and general rehabilitation. I also work at the Spine Clinic in Roseville, consulting with physicians on patients with spinal pain and dysfunction. I have also worked in Kaiser's Adult Primary Care program.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy involves treating the consequence of movement dysfunction utilizing a combination of manual therapy, modality agents, therapeutic exercise and patient education. I believe in empowering the patient to take an active role in their own rehabilitation.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 1996. Over that time I have come to appreciate the ability to practice physical therapy with a certain degree of freedom and autonomy not often afforded to therapists in a private practice setting.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

One aspect unique to Kaiser Permanente is the unprecedented on-line access to patient medical records, digital imagery (x-rays, MRI), and M.D. and surgeon reports. This allows a more complete knowledge of patient history in determining the best approach rehabilitating the patient injury. The advantage of having specialty providers housed under one single organization eliminates the concerns of non-medical providers making medical decisions regarding the best direction for patient care.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

I am a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and have been licensed by the Physical Therapy Board of California since 1996.

On a Personal Note…

When I am not in the clinic, I am spending time with my wife and four children. I also enjoy hiking, camping, soccer, weight training and any outdoor or indoor project involving power tools.

I received a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology from the University of California at Davis in 1992 with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in 1996. I have also completed a one year Long Term course in Manual Therapy at Folsom Physical Therapy and Training Center in 1998. I participate in continuing education courses on an ongoing basis to keep updated on new techniques and practices in my profession.
