My Biography
Board certified in Internal Medicine, I am a full-time hospitalist, with my practice focused on patients admitted to the hospital. I am interested in the health of the individual, as well as the population as a whole. My first priority is the care and comfort of my patients and to ensure that they receive the necessary tests and treatment in a timely fashion. Having an illness is one of life’s most stressful moments, and I believe that the emotional, psychological and spiritual well-beings play an integral role in the healing process. Involving the family in the care during the hospital stay is just as vital. I employ a multidisciplinary approach in patient care, working in conjunction with other health care providers, nurses, social workers and patient care coordinators to come up with the best treatment plan.
I grew up in San Francisco and really enjoy practicing in my home town. After graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Molecular Biology, I did research on viral gene expression at SRI International. I went on to pursue the study of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago – Stritch School of Medicine and completed my internship and residency training at Baylor College of Medicine. Because of my curiosity and interests in the health care system in the local, national and international scale, I also studied Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University.
In addition to my role as a full-time hospitalist, I serve as an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine through my participation with the UC Berkeley- UCSF Joint Medical Program. I also teach an undergraduate seminar in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University every winter. I always feel privileged and humble to be able to care for those in need, and I am a strong proponent of equal access to healthcare. Healthcare delivery is one of my professional interests. In my role as Chief of Utilization/Resource Management, I hope to optimize efficiency with the resources that we have in providing care without delay for all our patients.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
