My Healthcare Practice

I am an Emergency Medicine Physician. This means that I work on the front lines and see those things that can't wait for your personal physician to see. I chose this particular specialty because I like the fast pace and the immediate gratification I get from making a difference I can see. There is no other specialty like it.

I feel that my role as your physician is to help you get to the place you want to be. Not necessarily just to prop you up, but to work with you to set you on the path towards your goal. Much of this is not always possible in the Emergency Department but I still look to do it each day I come to work.

Receiving Your Healthcare From Kaiser Permanente

I have been a member of the Kaiser Permanente team for six years and in this time, I have come to the realization that there is not a better place for me to work. For the most part, I like practicing at Kaiser Permanente because I get to take care of my patients the way I feel they should be taken care of. As an ER physician in particular, I know that after you leave me there are other good doctors ready to take over your care.

About Me

I am 39 years old and I grew up in the Sacramento area. I went to Jesuit High School and then to Cal Berkeley. I stayed 2 years there and then transferred to UC Davis. I graduated in 1988 and then after a year off, I went to the University of Illinois College of Medicine. In 1993 I started my residency in Bakersfield, CA at Kern Medical Center. Initially I was a surgery resident but I switched to the ER when I "saw" the light. I came back to Sacramento in 1998 and started my career at Kaiser Permanente. I am married with 4 kids, 2 from my wife's previous marriage, ages 18 and 13, and 2 from our union, ages 3 and 1. My family still lives in the area and in fact we all live within a mile of each other.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
