Welcome to my home page!

Hello and welcome to my home page.

I’d like to tell you a little about myself: I was born in Oceanside, California. My father was career military. In 1975, I graduated from California State University, Sonoma with a BA in psychology, with a special interest in community mental health. Before attending graduate school I worked para-professionally in several foundational and experiential settings in the prevention and treatment child abuse and domestic violence. I also learned a great deal with two years working in in-patient psychiatric hospitals.

In 1982, I completed my Masters in Clinical Social Work at California State University, Sacramento. I have been a licensed clinician since 1985 and my license number with the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences in Clinical Social Work is LCS11374. I have worked in several different out-patient mental health agencies with adults, children and families.

In 2000, I joined Kaiser Permanente as a Psychiatric Social Worker in the Chemical Dependency Recovery Program in Sacramento working with Adults suffering from substance abuse and chemical dependency and providing treatment in addiction and recovery. In April 2006, I transferred to South Sacramento Psychiatry Department and Chemical Dependency Services, initially to work with adolescents and their families in chemical dependency treatment. After 2 years I returned to working with adults in the program. I have over 20 years extensive training and experience with chemical dependence recovery. Concurrently, since 1985, I have been working with clients in my private psychotherapy practice within the Sacramento community. Here I focus on addiction and recovery but I also work with couples, families and individuals in short and long term psychotherapy.

I am a dedicated father of two children who continue to teach me more than I ever learned in graduate school about children and families. My special interests and training includes a focus on family systems intervention, fathers and long term chemical dependency recovery.

In my over 10 years working with Kaiser Permanente, I see myself and my team of clinicians and colleagues very committed to each individual patient’s wellness in body, mind and spirit. I look forward to working with you.
