About Me

  • B.S.N., Columbia University
  • M.S.N., Adult Nurse Practitioner with specialty in Occupational Health, University of California, San Francisco.
  • Joined Kaiser Occupational Health, Oakland - 1998

I became interested in health care while working in Brazil as a Peace Corps volunteer. After returning home, I had the opportunity to talk with other people working in a variety of health-related fields, which helped in my decision to pursue nursing as a career. I worked as a staff nurse for seven years before pursuing further education and becoming a nurse practitioner.

My goal as a staff nurse and in my present role as a nurse practitioner has always been to provide competent and professional care, to assist patients in their transition from illness to wellness. Nursing care combines compassion and technical training. Add the importance of patient education and recognition of the diversity of our patient population and you have the cornerstone upon which to build a practice. I strive in my clinical practice to embody these ideals, and to balance work duties with personal and family interests.

I also enjoy bicycling, woodworking, photography, hiking, skiing, and almost anything else active!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
