How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

I started my career as an RN in the Intensive Care Unit, providing medical and cardiac intensive care. Through the Army Reserve, I got to know some Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) and decided to pursue that as my next career step.

Being a CRNA suits my style well because I get to focus on one patient with all my knowledge and skills just for them. I like the variety of cases that we handle and the technical aspects of anesthesia. Seeing that patients are comfortable and better off after their surgery is immensely satisfying.

I am very interested in simulation technology and how it applies to anesthesia and safety in the operating room. I have a faculty position at Samuel Merritt College in their Simulation Center. Simulation technology is becoming more common as a way to rehearse and be prepared for very rare, complex, high stress scenarios in the operating room.

One of the best aspects of Kaiser Permanente is the collaboration and team approach that we have here. There is always another highly skilled and trained colleague available to help if the need should arise.

A native of Southern Illinois, I had never been to San Francisco before moving here. My hobbies are bicycling, running and traveling.

Undergraduate Education: University of Illinois at Chicago
Graduate Education: Georgetown University
Professional Affiliations: American Association of Nurse Anesthetists; Society for Simulation in Healthcare
Began Practice: 2002

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
