My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a registered Physical Therapist. During my professional career I have gained experience in the different areas of Physical Therapy. In the late 1980’s I chose to specialize in orthopedic musculoskeletal dysfunction and rehabilitation in an outpatient setting with an emphasis in manual therapy. I treat patients with spinal pain i.e., neck and back pain. Also I treat patients with orthopedic problems i.e., shoulder, knee, and foot pain. I also provide information to help promote healing and maximize rehabilitation potential.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is treating movement dysfunction with a combination of manual therapy, modality agent, therapeutic exercises, and patient education. I believe that it is also important for active patient participation in a home exercise program. I am also involved with the patient by active listening and compassion in helping patients learn how to care for themselves.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente’s Physical Therapy team since 1990. Kaiser allows us to have a certain amount of freedom and autonomy in the treatment of patients. I work with a good team of well qualified colleagues in a supportive environment. Kaiser also provides me with educational opportunities.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

I am a member of American Physical Therapy Association and am an active member of Academy of American Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist.

My Educational and Personal History

I have received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the California State University, Fresno in 1977. I have also completed a year long post graduate courses in Manual Therapy; 3 years and 6 months training in PNF at Vallejo Kaiser Permanente. I maintain and update new skills and knowledge through continuing education yearly. I am an American citizen naturalized in 1979. I read and write and am fluent in Japanese.
