About Me
I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. I graduated in 1981 from Santa Clara University with a BS degree in Political Science. I graduated from San Jose State University in 1989 with a Master's degree in Counselor Education. I provided individual, group, and family counseling for children and teens at two nonprofit counseling agencies in the Bay Area before receiving my license as a Marriage Family Therapist in 1992.
Since 1992, I have provided adult therapy in a variety of settings, including private practice, managed care, nonprofit, and school settings. In the last five years, I have served primarily in supervisory and managerial capacities for social service agencies, including Clinical Director of a dual diagnosis alcohol and substance abuse counseling agency. I joined the Permanente Medical Group in May 2007. I am licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners and serve as a Marriage Family Therapist in the Depression Pathway for Adult Psychiatry.
Depression pathway is a coordinated, multi-disciplinary depression treatment program emphasizing group therapy that is based primarily on the cognitive behavioral therapy model. The program includes group therapy, medication management, brief individual therapy and education for the early identification and treatment of unipolar depression.
