Welcome to my Home Page!

I’ve known since childhood that I wanted to go into medicine. My father is a physician and often took me on “rounds” in the hospital as well as encouraged me to help out in his office. I believe in a physician as healer as well as scientist and strive to provide comfort, assurance, as well as expertise. I chose the field of anesthesiology because of its hands-on nature; the skills we learn in training allow us to deliver care in many life threatening situations as well to provide comfort, pain relief and anxiolysis during routine surgical procedures.

I’m originally a mid-westerner but have done all of my training on the coasts. I attended Harvard/Radcliffe for my undergraduate degree in biochemistry. I then completed my medical school training at UCSF; I did a medical internship at Kaiser Oakland, and completed my anesthesiology training at Stanford in 1996 with ASA board certification in 1997. I enjoy working at Kaiser because of its goal of delivering quality medical care, inclusive of preventive care. I always say that working at Kaiser is akin to working at a University hospital (with a more humane schedule) because of their emphasis on implementing protocols that improve patient care.

On a lighter note I often try to brighten up the O.R. experience with colorful O.R. caps and purple clogs! If our paths cross I hope you’ll feel well taken care of.

My Credentials

Medical school UC San Francisco, San Francisco, CA
Internship Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Oakland, CA
Residency Stanford University Hospital, Stanford, CA
Board certification Anesthesiology, American Board of Anesthesiology

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
