About Me
I chose physical therapy as a career because it combined the science of anatomy and physiology, with the art of evaluating problems and implementing hands-on strategies to help people improve their ability to move and function. I enjoy working in Women’s Health physical therapy because we help women improve basic life functions that have a profound impact on their quality of life. I also enjoy it because our practice is holistic in approach—we work with hands-on treatment, exercise, posture, body mechanics, behavior, and diet. My personal practice philosophy is both holistic, looking at the patient and her problem as a whole unit, and eclectic, as I use a variety of treatment approaches in caring for my patients. In addition, our clinical evaluation and treatment encompasses not only the pelvis but the entire body. Working at Kaiser Permanente allows me to have a comprehensive and integrated team approach, where medical and other providers both in and outside of the Ob/Gyn department work closely with patients.
I have a strong interest in women’s health issues throughout the life span, which ranges from the care of women in pregnancy and post partum, and also includes urinary and fecal incontinence and urgency, and pelvic dysfunction. I have taken extensive post graduate course work in these areas to help me better serve my patients.
On a personal note, I enjoy cooking and a variety of outdoor activities including gardening, running, boogie boarding, and any other excuse to get to the beach! I also serve on the board of the Renewal Project, a non-profit organization whose goals are focused on reconciliation and renewal in a variety of settings.
