About Me

I have found being a psychologist to be a wonderfully rewarding career. I like helping people and I find the human nimd and behavior to be absolutely fascinating! And the more we learn about the brain, the more intriguing it becomes.

I decided to leave private practice in order to work fulltime at Kaiser. Because Kaiser provides integrated care through the life span, it offers members innovative and effective programs and services that are not possible elsewhere. I like being part of a team to help people improve the quality of their lives. I have had the privilege of being able to partipate in and to develop many new programs such as the ADHD Evaluation Groups for children, anxiety and depression groups for children, behavioral medicine services in pediatrics, and (many years ago) chemical dependency programs for adults.

Most recently, I have worked as a behavioral medicine specialist in adult primary care, which has been an exciting opportunity to provide consultation and treatment in cooperation with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, clinical health educators, and physical therapists. We are able to care for the "whole" person. This kind of integrated care is uniquely available to our member, and would not be possible in other settings.

I recieived a BS in Psycholoy and an MSW in Social Work at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After working for several years, I returned to school at the California School of Professional Psychology to earn a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. I did my internships in the Psychiatry Department at Kaiser-Vallejo and in Chemical Dependency at Kaiser-Vallejo.

Outside of work, I especally enjoy spending time doing almost anything with my family - walking our Golden Retiriever, reading, cooking, and attending concerts. Music has been an especially important part of my life. Needlepoint is my therapy, and I like designing some of my own needlepoint and quilting projects.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
