My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I enjoy working with Outpatient Orthopedic Patients because I like being afforded the opportunity to instruct them in ways they can utilize their Home Exercise Program to independently improve their mobility and achieve more optimal function in their daily lives. Working with infants and children is professionally very rewarding because they are constantly changing and always teach me something new and exciting as they work towards their functional goals.

My Practice Philosophy

My individual philosophy as a physical therapist is to always listen carefully to my patients because they usually know what their primary challenges are and this knowledge can help guide me in creating an optimal treatment program for them.

My Credentials

BS, Physical Education, San Jose State University 1975
Certificate, Physical Therapy, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles 1984
Joined Kaiser Permanente 1996

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

As a Kaiser Permanente Physical Therapist I enjoy being afforded the ongoing opportunity to increase my knowlege both professionally and academically. By consulting with my colleagues and exchanging treatment ideas and sharing the variety of their expertise my knowledge always expands. Also by having the opportunity to complete continuing education courses I am able to keep current within the field of Physical Therapy and provide my patients with the most current scientific treatment methods.

Professional Affiliations

  • American Physical Therapy Association - Pediatric and Health Policy and Pediatric Sections
  • Neuro Developmental Treatment Association - Pediatric Section
  • Attended World Confederation of Physical Therapists Association – London, 1991; Washington D.C., 1995

Professional Interests

Professionally I am also interested in learning about physical therapy practice throughout the world. Whenever I attend the WCPTA Conferences I always complete a pre-or post- conference course. This allows me the opportunity to learn the course material while also interchanging ideas and knowledge with physical therapists from many different countries. I also enjoy working as a physical therapist in developing countries. Since 1991 I have served as both a professional medical volunteer and Corporate Trip Coordinator for "Los Medicos Voladores" or The Flying Doctors. This group is composed of medical professionals and pilots who fly in small planes from Northern California to treat patients in Sonora Mexico and Baja California. I have also had the pleasure working with infants and children in Bucharest Romania through the Lift Foundation of Auburn.

On a Personal Note. . .

On a more personal level I am the proud mother of three adult children who are all college graduates and accomplished professionals. This is particularly important to me because I raised them as a single parent and they were very supportive of me as I worked towards my long term goal of becoming a physical therapist. They have also given me the opportunity to be the cheerful grandmother of five energetic grandchildren, (including a set of twins).
