Hello, welcome to my Website!

I am Katherine Wilson, mostly known as Kate Wilson, or “Nurse Wilson” in the Ophthalmology clinic. I am a Bay Area native. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from San Diego State University.

I worked for years as a hospital RN. I have been at Kaiser Permanente since 1983, moving to the Ophthalmology Clinic in 1992.

I wear many different hats in the eye dept. A major part is following patients for glaucoma. I work with the Ophthalmologists as part of a team. I'm a Staff Nurse III, and certified in Ophthalmology (CRNO). I also do phone advice and I am available as a resource for the staff.

I love working in Ophthalmology. I find the eye fascinating. I enjoy working with our patients, helping members in their eye care. Plus all our providers are great to work with and give excellent care.

I am an active member and past president of The Bay Area Chapter of American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses (ASORN). We organize educational seminars for Bay Area Ophthalmic personnel. I usually attend the national conference yearly.

My interests outside of work are many. They include hiking in the beautiful bay area hills, running a few miles, planting a vegetable garden yearly. I love travel near and far. Near would be the Sierra for skiing in winter, camping in summer. A few years ago I hiked to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite! For world travel I have traveled in South America, Europe including Denmark, Mexico and British Columbia. Washington State is another favorite. Family includes two great kids, now young adults, and our neurotic cat, Daisy.

Thanks for visiting my website. Click on any of the links that interest you. I may be reached through our local Redwood City Call Center (650) 299-2111. I will return your call as soon as possible. Please note I work four days a week in the Eye Department.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
