About Me

I was born and raised in Waukegan, IL, 40 miles north of Chicago. I graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois with a BA in Psychology and Philosophy in 1978. In 1983, I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. My wide variety of training experiences in California include a pre-doctoral internship at UC Davis Medical Center, post-doctoral internships at the Berkeley Therapy Institute and the Psychiatry Department at Walnut Creek Kaiser.

I have been licensed by the California Board of Psychology since 1985. Prior to joining the Permanente Medical Group in 1991, I worked as Psychologist and Supervisor of Child and Adolescent Services at Terkensha Associates (North Area Mental Health Center) here in Sacramento.

As a Staff Psychologist on the Child Team I work with children and teenagers of all ages. My primary focus is on family therapy.

Providers in the Child, Adolescent and Family program are specialists in the mental health problems experienced by children and their families. We provide brief treatment to children, adolescents and families. We involve the family in learning new skills to deal with psychiatric issues. We see people individually, in families or in groups depending upon problems being treated and the developmental needs of the child.

Away from work I sing in the Sacramento Opera Chorus, enjoy running, gardening, hiking and reading science fiction.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
