About Me:
I have practiced anesthesiology in California for a number of years, but have only recently joined Kaiser. An important goal of mine is to provide the best patient care. I have found Kaiser to be an environment that encourages quality medical care, and allows me to give the care that I believe to be appropriate.
I was born in England. After obtaining a B.Sc., I pursued a career in academic research at University College London, where I earned a Ph.D. and became a member of faculty. I moved to the United States and joined the faculty at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California San Francisco. Over the next few years, I carried out research at the University of California at Berkeley, and Stanford.
Becoming interested in clinical medicine, I attended medical school at the University of California San Francisco, and anesthesia residency at Stanford. During this time, I continued research, my clinical training now allowing me to study clinical topics.
Thus I have conducted basic science and applied clinical research in transducer technology, physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, protein structure, pharmacokinetics, and clinical anesthesiology.
I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate science students, nursing students, paramedic students, medical students, and medical residents.
I am a diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
