Why Do I Like Being a Marriage and Family Therapist

I enjoy the triage process which assists our members in identifying the services that best suit their needs. I also have the opportunity to meet and provide direct service to members who have an urgent need. I enjoy meeting with patients who are experiencing difficult times and providing support. I am honored that people choose to share their stories with me.

What Is My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is that the development of symptoms in a crisis situation is a normal response to an abnormal event. I see my role on the crisis team as assisting members in coping with the crisis situation and referring for appropriate services.

Why Did I Choose My Specialty

I have previous experience working with children and families in a variety of mental health settings. When I came to Kaiser Permanente in 2006, I had the opportunity to expand my scope of practice. I began at that time to specialize in crisis work and triage.

What Do I Like About Working at Kaiser Permanente

I appreciate the spectrum of services that Kaiser Permanente has to offer to patients, and my role in linking patients with our services. Kaiser Permanente offers the ability to coordinate with multiple professionals involved in patient care in order to provide continuity of care. I have had the opportunity to facilitate a crisis group (Wednesdays at 9:30AM) and to provide ongoing care to members through that group.

Personal Interests

Personal interests include spending time with family and friends, enjoying time outdoors, cooking, and advocating for individuals with development disabilities.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
