My Biography

In the Hospital-Based Medicine department, the breadth of acutely ill patients I see is tremendous. I understand that, for patients and families, visiting our department is a very stressful event. It’s rewarding to help members through their turmoil as much as possible. Our patient population mirrors the city’s demographic population religiously, racially, and socioeconomically.

At Kaiser Permanente, I’m proud to work in a mission-driven health care organization where caring for patients is the first concern. It’s wonderful to work without worrying about insurance issues or patients’ ability to pay. I am able to focus fully on practicing medicine. The group with which I work embodies a wonderful, supportive collegiality and consists of a staff of outstanding physicians. In addition to my clinical duties, I sit on the Core Committee for Acute Myocardial Infarction and serve as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF. On my own time, I mentor first- and second-year medical students.

Outside of work, I enjoy snowboarding and black-and-white photography. I used to be a runner and I still participate in the annual KP Half-Marathon. I THRIVE by using the stairs instead of the elevator while at work, I drink plenty of water and stay away from soda, and I shop at the farmers’ market. I have two small and wonderful children. I look forward to working with you at San Francisco Medical Center.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
