My Biography

Although I was born in Chicago, I grew up in northern California and have always considered the Bay Area home. After spending parts of my educational and medical training on the East Coast, it feels great to be back in the Bay Area. I have a bit of a family history at San Francisco Medical Center; my mother worked for many years as a dermatologist at the French Campus. I am very pleased to be joining the Radiology Department here. I think our department provides a collegial atmosphere, where teamwork and dedication are hallmarks of the clinicians and staff. Because of Kaiser Permanente’s centralized health care model, providers are able to look out for patients’ overall well-being, with an emphasis on patient health and disease prevention, rather than on financial incentives. I am also impressed to see Kaiser Permanente making an effort to be involved in the community in many ways.

In my work, I enjoy consulting with other physicians and deciphering the radiology images. Scrutinizing the films is a little like trying to put the pieces of a puzzle together, looking for clues as to why a patient is experiencing a particular symptom. I look forward to joining a team that cares for a diverse patient population, and I look forward to the challenge of helping diagnose a broad spectrum of different disease processes. Areas of particular interest to me include gastrointestinal radiology and hepatobiliary radiology.

When I am not at the medical center, I like engaging in outdoor activities, watching movies, reading fiction, cooking meals, and working crossword puzzles. I stay healthy and active through biking, running, swimming, playing soccer and tennis, and frequently opting for the stairs over the elevator or escalator. I try to eat relatively well and enjoy shopping at farmers’ markets when I can. I try to live a balanced life, making time for family, friends, work, exercise, and rest. I am also highly diligent about sun protection and using sunscreen!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
