My Biography
I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco because of the organization’s multi-disciplinary approach to treating chemical dependency. Our Chemical Dependency Recovery Program patients benefit from a team of medical doctors, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, drug and alcohol counselors, marriage and family therapists, and licensed clinical social workers—all working together to provide the best, most comprehensive care possible. It is fantastic to be on a team of such energetic, knowledgeable, and caring professionals.
Working as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in the field of chemical dependency represents a career change for me. I received my bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. While working as an architect, I became involved in writing and performing theater pieces focused on social change. It was through experiencing the healing power of drama and theater in my own life, in the lives of my fellow actors, and in the communities in which we performed, that I decided to change my career path and pursued a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Drama Therapy. As an MFT/Drama Therapist, I get great satisfaction from helping individuals struggling with addiction to strengthen their “voice of recovery,” and weaken their “addict voice.” The people I serve as a therapist are neither victims nor heroes, but I often feel that I am serving as witness to a hero’s journey when I support a person’s recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs.
Going to places where I am surrounded by the beauty of the natural world, whether it is in my patio garden, a neighborhood park, or in the wilderness, is absolutely essential to my sense of well-being. Walking through a grove of trees hearing the breeze moving through the leaves; taking in the colors, shapes and scents of a field of wildflowers; watching squirrels and birds in their daily rituals—these are the things that take me out of the chatter of my mind and connect me to what is sacred and essential in life.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my partner, family (which includes two feline family members!), and friends. I also enjoy writing, reading (especially spiritually- focused writings), hiking in any of the incredibly beautiful parks we have in the Bay Area and beyond, watercolor painting and redecorating my apartment.
Welcome to San Francisco Medical Center. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
