My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a certified nurse midwife and have been caring for women in pregnancy, delivering babies, and doing postpartum care since 1988. I became interested in needs of women in pregnancy and birth after having my 2 sons. It is a very vulnerable and special time in which a woman needs personalized care and lots of information.

My Practice Philosophy

As a nurse midwife I believe that birth is a normal body process, not a disease. I value each woman's unique needs and concerns. I want to help my clients make informed healthy choices. I hope to prepare and empower a woman for a positive pregnancy and satisfying birth experience. This in turn will help her develop the confidence she needs in her new role as a mother.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I've been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2004. I appreciate being part of a healthcare team that can provide all services from health education to our high risk specialists. It’s all right here for my clients to access as needed.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I like practicing at Kaiser because I have excellent M.D. colleagues to consult with at any given moment should a problem arise. My nurse midwife colleagues are all very experienced and caring people. We all work together in clinic and labor and delivery and continually share our skills and knowledge.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

  • Member of the American College of Nurse Midwives
  • Member of the California Nurse Midwives Association
  • Member of the local chapter 11 of Nurse Midwives

On a Personal Note…

I live in the sierra foothills with my husband. I have 2 grown sons who like to visit our country home. My favorite activities are hiking, reading, gardening and cooking. We also raise alpacas; have 2 German shepherds, and 2 fat cats.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
