I am a board certified Genetic Counselor. Genetic counselors are health professionals with specialized graduate degrees and experience in the areas of medical genetics and counseling. Genetic counselors identify families at risk for birth defects or genetic disease, investigate the problem present in the family, interpret information about the disorder, and analyze inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence and review available options with the family. Genetic counselors also provide supportive counseling to families, serve as patient advocates and refer individuals and families to community or state support services.
My Biography
I was born and raised in Mt. Vernon, New York, a suburb of New York City. After earning my MS degree I worked as a genetic counselor in upstate New York. I came out to California in 1982 to join the Kaiser San Jose Genetics Department.
I enjoy working with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, and work hard to provide comprehensive care to my pediatric, adult, and prenatal patients. I actively participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, one of Kaiser Genetics’ many specialty clinics.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am a Girl Scout Leader and sing in a choir.
I am committed to providing you and your family with high quality care and encourage your questions and comments. If you forget to ask a question during your visit, please feel free to call me at (408) 972-3304.
