My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a physician assistant (PA) in orthopedic surgery. I did not choose orthopedics, it chose me with my background and interest in carpentry.

My Qualifications

BLA Mid America Nazarene College
BPAS Wichita State University
MPAS University of Nebraska

My Practice Philosophy

The way I practice medicine is based on my training in medicine and my background as a chemist, teacher, and carpenter. The treatment should be closely tailored to the needs of the individual.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been associated with Kaiser Permanente first as a patient in 1989 and then as a medical provider in 2002. Kaiser Permanente is a wonderful place to work in orthopedics due to the wide variety of patients and injuries. I have a large group of orthopedic surgeons that I work with to provide the best care. Also, there are specialists here which expand my knowledge and experience base.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

  • American Academy of Physician Assistants
  • California Academy of Physician Assistants
  • Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Physician Assistants of Sacramento

  • I am published in the Journal of the American Academy of Physicians and the Surgical Assistants Journal.

On a Personal Note

Sacramento is a wonderful place to live and work due to the abundant waterways. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas and lived around water. When I am not at work, I enjoy rowing at Lake Natomas. Other activities I enjoy are: photography, theatre, wine tasting, and travel.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
