Welcome to Our Emergency Department:

I have been in full-time emergency practice for 25 years. I was attracted to this specialty because of the seriuosness of the emergency medical problems. It gives me great satisfaction to help people who are critically ill or injured.

About Me:

I first began my emergency medicine career in Hollister, CA. Through the years I have practiced in Gilroy, Santa Cruz, and Stanford. I have been a Kaiser Permanente physician since 1998, and I am board-certified in emergency medicine.

My Philosophy of Care

Good and effective health care requires common sense, good judgement, and vigilance, by both the patient and the provider. Diagnosis and treatment needs to be realistic. There has to be a balance between the medical technology and the needs of the whole patient, both the physical and the mental.

My Recommendations:

As an emergency physician, my expertise is not only in therapeutic procedures, but also, in the expert knowledge that my colleagues and I bring to the department. It is my advice that any concern that a patient has regarding a possible emergency merits contacting us. I would rather be able to reassure you that you are not having an emergency rather than see anyone suffer the consequences of a delay in treatment.

My Credentials

Medical school State University of New York Health Science Center At Brooklyn, Brooklyn, NY
Internship Charity Hospital, New Orleans, LA
Residency St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center of New York, New York, NY
Residency Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, NY
Board certification Emergency Medicine, American Board of Emergency Medicine

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
